The Halio Community Making An Impact With Warriors

Better late than never, isn’t that what they say?

I hope this is the first of many opportunities I can sit down and share our thoughts as a brand and the impact it has on the initiatives we highlight, as much as it does on ourselves. Back in January we announced that proceeds from the Winter Collection were going to a Children’s Center, in this case an organization called Upbring, New Life Children’s Center (CC).

So what is New Life? And how did we come across the opportunity to help give back? I guess we can start with the first question.

Upbring has been around for more than 135 years with their core mission being to serve children, families and communities through their programs. But more recently, in 2015, they refocused their attention on ending the cycle of child abuse and empowering the children through programs and community service.

This brings us specifically into our focus at New Life, where the girls who serve there have survived extraordinary hard circumstances. In no short terms, these girls are warriors. It’s an honor for us to even being associated with them.

New Life CC offer these warriors individualized and group therapy, they prepare them for adult living, spiritual care and more. And since 2017 they’ve given 191 of these girls a place to heal and work on starting a new life.

I’d love to go on and on about these amazing girls and women, but to keep from rambling on and on, I’ll drop information at the bottom of the page for you to check out for yourself! So, onto the second question. How’d Halio and New Life cross paths?

Towards the end of 2018 there was a nearby warehouse that was closing down, and with Halio expanding every launch we needed larger shelves to be able to appropriately store the inventory before sending out to you all amazing people. As we were loading up the racks, I came across an amazing woman, Rachel. During normal small talk, just getting to know one another, she shared with me all about New Life and not only that she volunteered her time there, she actually was a warrior that went through the programs. Her story is really heartfelt and I hope in the future to share more of that with you all on here if that's something you’d all like to hear.

And since that day we stayed in touch and with the blessing from Rachel and New Life, we were able to donate a portion of Halio and Glow to the young warriors. Let me tell you, we pretty excited. Haha. Waiting on the feedback from the girls and if they liked what we were able to share with them, meant a lot to us. We just wanted to be able to give them something they need and would be proud of!

Rachel stopped by this last week and shared with me a letter from Lisa Brown, Director of Volunteer Services, not only did the letter make me get a little emotional inside, but the photo was beyond adorable. (I’ll share it below)

So, this is where I thank you! First of all if you made it this far into the story, you get brownie points. But, without your support of Halio and Glow, none of this would be possible. With each order, YOU make it possible to make a positive impact for those in need. For that, we are grateful. Thank you for being a part of the community and if you’d like to look more into Upbring, New Life CC, click the link below.

With love and appreciation
